East of Newfaire, along the Threadbare Coast, lies the fishing village of Seasway. As the day fades into the night, the narrow street between the weather-grayed wooden buildings starts to empty. The days in these parts of the Fairelands valley tend to start early.
The wind is picking up speed, accompanied by the constant creaking of the wood. In the center of Seasway looms a decrepit lighthouse, shining into the night. Much taller than any other structures dare to reach in the persistent winds.
Flicker.
Darkness swallows the night momentarily. The light returns, but it appears dimmer.
Flicker.
The night is whole again, holding its breath for a few moments. Then, the lighthouse floods back on brighter than ever before as if drawing energy from the land itself.
Flicker.
There is no coming back from that. The night doesn’t blink again. Waves continue to crash and the wind continues to howl. A wisp of smoke begins to rise from a crack in the ground. Inside the lighthouse, an astrolabe hangs a hundred feet above the ground, motionless.
Welcome to a gilded world of terrifying magick!
Candela Obscura is a horror tabletop roleplaying game about occult investigators hunting down the dangerous supernatural forces making incursions into a world very much like your own.
You take up the role of a newly formed Circle member. You can be the Face or Muscle of the group, a Scholar or a Slink, or maybe a touch of Weird is what’s best suited for this paranormal secret society.
This is a beginner friendly one-shot with elements of exploration, investigation, and paranormal. The combat in Candela Obscura tends to be less tactical, and more organic and story-driven. Characters will be created at the table. Please feel free to reach out if you’ve any questions
