As the last bits of daylight vanish behind the hills, the loud chatter among the crowd dies down and an uncomfortable stillness seems to take over.
The beat of a single drum breaks the silence.

The drummer makes his way to the stake surrounded by a pile of wood in the middle of the town center. Following him is a woman in a dirty beige rag, her head covered by a similar coloured sack.
The woman remains motionless as her hand is tied to the stake behind her back. No protests, no pleas. Has she accepted her fate? Does she expect someone else to come for her rescue? Or maybe she has a trick up her sleeve that no one knows about?
You’ve just arrived at the town of Wallowdale along with your fellow adventurers. As fate would have it, the town is preparing for a public execution. You listen to the conversation around, and you gather the crime the accused is being sentenced for is witchcraft. Could that possibly be the case? Is it even your business to care if it is or not?
This is a beginner friendly one-shot with elements of combat, exploration and social interaction. The game will be at level 3. You can pick your character from pre-generated sheets at the table, or bring your own. Standard array or point buy system can be used to make your character, preferably using options from PHB, TCoE, XGtE, or MotM.
