For decades, the only constant in the life of gnomish wizard Poppy Tinkertwist was the companionship of her beloved familiar, Pepper. The little cat has been by her side through adventures and misadventures, and has boasted an unusually lengthy existence for what seems like a bog-standard feline.
Alas, all things must come to an end, even the lives of creatures with nine lives…but wizards are notorious for their desire to rewrite the rules of space and time. Poppy is old, and her bones are weak, and even her darkvision has grown dim. Will she find a way to bring Pepper back across the veil? Can anyone else do this for her?
You and your companions are the latest to be recruited in Poppy’s quest, and it seems like a great deal even at half the generous reward offered. After all, how hard can it be to retrieve a few piddling magical items from the catacombs below the city with Pepper’s spirit guiding you every step of the way?
This is a beginner-friendly adventure with some dungeon-delving, trap-disarming and puzzle-solving, all while accompanying a tiny ghostly kitten which might just have its own agenda.
